Well, we are right on the edge of yellowstone park. There are so rather large forest fires that we have been biking arround all day to get here, and biking through smoke is not very fun I have found. The mountains are so beautiful here, and it is suppose to get so much better soon. We are taking a much longer route in yellowstone then our maps tell us to, there is just so much more to see then just old faithful. We plan to spend about a week between yellowstone and the grand tetons. So it will most likely be quite a while before I am writing another post.
We meet and biked with two older gentelmen yesterday who were rather fun. One was from england who biked this route 5 times before and the other was from Wisconsin. It was fun to meet other cyclists and have a conversation with them longer then 10 min. They were rather kind and paid for our breakfest and a beer at a bar.
We have also met a lot of poeple biking across the country with support so they are not carrying any weight, and get water, and food and everything. I think that it is cheating. (maybe it is because I am jealous) We did meet this 80 year old man (yes exactly 80 years old) who is biking across the country. After seeing that I think I am not going to be complaining for a while. He even biked acround the world 8 years ago, at the young age of 72 years old.
I am very excited to see yellowstone and the grand tetons, so wish us luck.

Hey guys,
Long time no talk. We have been going through some rather unpopulated country. We have recently traveled through hells cannon, along a portion of the Lewis and Clark trail, the bitter root valley, up over the continental divide at chief Joseph's pass and down in the big hole. All of it was absolutely beautiful. The mountains, air, streams, passes everything was amazing. We have meet a lot of really nice people like Roy, a guy we meet by Salmon river invited us to spend the night at his camp site which we did. He gave us so good food and COLD beer. Then the next day we took a day off from biking and Roy took us white water rafting on his raft. In the middle of the rafting we hiked up the side of the mountain that surrounds the river and went to a hot spring that poured into a carved out log that acted as a tub. It felt so good to get into warm water. We have meet a whole bunch of other people along the way that gave us food and of course more beer. This trip has defiantly revitalized my faith in humanity.
We are now in the "big sky state" and boy is it not mis-named at all. Everything in big in this state, and if it does not look big, the you are obviously too far away. Like the hills here, don;t look to bad but then you realize you are about 15 miles away from them still. This morning we went to what was the first territorial capital of Montana, Bannack. It is now a ghost town but in its day was quite rough. It, like most towns around here, was form during the gold rush and died out after the gold was all gone. oh well We have to get going so hope to update this again soon.

Hey guys,
So we are staying in a church tonight. The people out here are incredibly nice, it is very refreshing to see. Earlier today this older couple paid for our lunch after we talked with them for a while, a couple weeks ago a elderly man offered to put us up for the night (which we had to decline because we needed to make 40 more miles) and this old lady named Milly gave us $20 emergency money in case we ever needed it. Ever sense then we leave a little extra cash in a safe place and refer to it as "Milly Money"
The Church that we a re staying at is set up for biker just like me, with a shower, computer, kitchen and everything. Today we covered 80 miles and went over two passes. The land around here is amazing, just the amount our surroundings have changed in only a couple day is mind blowing. We went from very dense forest with tons of cold rain to a high desert that is very dry. There are huge buttes and caverns that have been formed from lava flow, earth quakes and water. Tomorrow we are planning on going out to dig for fossils at a local dig site, which should be rather exciting. Well we are almost done with Oregon, and then it is on to Idaho. Good night everyone.
